Mckenzie Therapy

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is a specialized, heavily researched, approach to the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal problems, particularly those related to the spine. The key principle is to empower patients to actively participate in their own recovery. The assessment process involves a systematic evaluation of symptoms and responses to specific movements and positions. The approach is applicable to various musculoskeletal problems, including disc-related issues in the low back and neck, radiating leg pain, arm pain/numbness, sciatica, and extremity injuries in the shoulder, elbow, hip, or knee.

One hallmark of the McKenzie Method is the emphasis on self-treatment through prescribed exercises and posture modifications. Patients are taught specific exercises and movements that are tailored to their individual condition and response to certain activities. These exercises are designed to centralize or alleviate pain, improve mobility, and promote healing.

The McKenzie Method has gained popularity worldwide as a patient-centered approach that focuses on empowering individuals to manage their own symptoms with guidance from trained healthcare professionals.
